Central Valley

Costa Rica’s Central Valley is the most populated region of the country; The Central Valley of Costa Rica is formed by the provinces of San José, Heredia, Cartago and Alajuela.

Most of the factories and services industries companies are also in the area; therefore, a lot of sleeper towns and cities surround and permeate the Central Valley. Still, there are many historical sights and because of the small size of the country, this area is the starting point of the many adventures available in the rest of the country.

The Poás area is part of the Central Valley and is only an hour away from San José. This town is full, not only of landscapes that will amaze you with its beauty, but also a great variety of activities to explore. One of our favorites is the dairy tour. There you will have the possibility of milking a cow, play with calves and then a walk through the forest to finish in a strawberry greenhouse; the biggest and sweetest in the country! In addition to a small tour of plants to learn more about botany and the country life of the Ticos. The walk would not be complete without visiting one of the largest Butterfly Gardens in Central America. And continue through the beautiful gardens of the La Paz waterfall, and interact with monkeys, hummingbirds, jungle cats and sloth. You can not leave this area without a coffee tasting in a typical Costa Rican house, with the same charm and warmth as a hundred years ago. Prepare your camera to remember how impressive the falls are, including La Paz Waterfall and Magia Blanca Waterfall, surrounded by a dreamy rainforest.

Orosi is one of the most admired due to its intense view of the valleys and mountains that surround it. Here you can visit the emblematic Orosi Church and learn about its interesting history. As well as tour the Ruins of Ujarrás and know the most characteristic details of its structure. The adventure is present in this area with its unmissable Tour Rafting Rio Grande de Orosi, a tour of this river that besides being fun, is surrounded by exuberant wildlife and a unique view of the Turrialba Volcano. But if what you like are the heights, go for the zip line tour and have fun flying through the air, combined with hanging bridges and rappelling from the tallest trees. Tours ideal for families and for those who dare to explore nature up close.
